Guest Services Supervisor


Job Description:

MIM is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to assist with the operations and management of the Guest Services department. The Guest Services department will ensure a positive guest experience which reinforces the MIM brand for approximately 250,000 visitors a year. This position will be integral in maintaining admission and membership sales, box office management and ticket sales for a 300-seat music theater, supervision of Guest Services representatives, and maintenance of the audio system issued to all guests. This is an exciting opportunity to help introduce guests to the world of musical instrument and create a responsive, guest oriented culture at MIM.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily operations and management of Guest Services staff and volunteers.
  • In coordination with Guest Services Manager, create and administer events, promotions, ticket content and reports in the ticketing system for Museum and Theater events
  • Prepare and print Will-Call tickets as necessary
  • Station ticket sales or telephone positions as needed
  • Handle large volumes of financial transactions, and settle cash drawers at the end of each shift or day
  • Handle miscellaneous other functions such as wheelchair check out, bag check, lost and found, switchboard function, supply ticket stock, etc.
  • In the absence of the Guest Services Manager, oversee all aspects of the department
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Some supervisory or management experience in Guest Services in a museum, performing arts organization or similar institution.
  • Box office experience strongly preferred. Direct experience with The Patron Edge and The Patron Edge Online a plus.
  • Strong computer skills in Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to cheerfully exercise patience and sound judgment in a variety of situations, especially in direct interactions with the public.
  • Love for world music and musical instruments a plus!

 

Other:

  • Located in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
  • This position reports directly to the Guest Services Manager.
  • When museum is open, this position will work a schedule which regularly includes evenings and weekends.
