Longtime volunteer team member Michael Perkins presents the fascinating story of Ella Fitzgerald’s journey to mainstream success and the strides she made in civil rights victories for musicians of color along the way.

Join David Wegehaupt, associate curator for United States / Canada and Europe, on a voyage through the illustrious life and career of Ella Fitzgerald. Learn about her pivotal moments, creative collaborations, and remarkable performances, from her debut at the Apollo Theater to the heights of stardom.
