Board of Directors
Matt Feeney is the chair of Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest law firms in the Western United States, with offices in Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Los Cabos, Mexico. His practice concentrates on corporate law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and general corporate matters for a wide range of clients. He joined Snell & Wilmer in 1983 after graduating from Notre Dame Law School.
While attending a Notre Dame football game in 2009, Feeney ran into a lawyer-friend from his alma mater. She told him that a good friend of hers, MIM’s founding president Bill DeWalt, had moved to Phoenix and that Feeney should look him up. Feeney is a music lover; he plays guitar and sings with feeney/winthrop, an acoustic group that performs an annual concert in support of a job service for the homeless. DeWalt soon took him to see MIM, which was under construction at the time, and Feeney was “hooked.” He persuaded Snell & Wilmer to sponsor the Ireland exhibit at the new museum. He and his wife, Michele, and their five children also sponsored the exhibit on the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Feeney served on MIM’s advisory board from 2010 to 2015, when he was elected to the museum’s board of directors.
Aside from serving on MIM’s board, Feeney is on the board of directors of Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society (Bermuda), Ltd., a mutual insurance company, where he chairs the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and is a founding board member of St. Joseph the Worker Job Service, a nonprofit job service for the homeless. He has served as board member and president of the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education.
Feeney has received numerous professional awards and recognition over his career, including being named among the “Best Lawyers in America”; Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Corporate / Mergers and Acquisitions; Southwest Super Lawyers; Lawdragon Top 3000 Leading Lawyers in America; and Arizona’s Finest Lawyers.
