Lee Ritenour is a consummate and complete guitarist if ever there was one, his varied discography supporting a seemingly insatiable appetite for anything to do with the six-stringed instrument and all its variations.
—All About Jazz
Few musicians of any genre can match the curriculum vitae of Grammy Award–winning guitarist Lee Ritenour.
A founding member of jazz group Fourplay, Lee Ritenour is a Grammy-winning guitarist whose storied career includes session work with the Mamas and the Papas, Lena Horne, and Tony Bennett. During his dazzling five-decade career, the L.A. guitarist has taken his music to the outer limits, alighting on every genre and occupying every position in the rock ’n’ roll firmament. Ritenour has recorded 45 albums, and his accolades include numerous number-one spots on guitar polls, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian SJ Awards, and a prestigious “Alumnus of the Year” Award from the University of Southern California. Weaving tapestries of instrumental guitar and conjuring eclectic moods, the 12 tracks of his 2020 release, Dreamcatcher, rank among the most melodic and tinglingly beautiful in Ritenour’s catalog.
Dave Grusin is one of the great American film composers. He has scored more than 60 films (including On Golden Pond and Tootsie), received more than eight Academy Award nominations (and won an Oscar), and composed numerous theme songs for network television shows. As a producer, composer, and pianist, Grusin has appeared on over 100 albums—many on GRP Records, the pioneering contemporary jazz label he cofounded. His working relationship with Ritenour stretches back several decades, and they have made more than a dozen albums together.
