Live from Laurel Canyon: Songs and Stories of American Folk Rock is a 90-minute journey through the music and stories of some of the most influential artists who lived in Los Angeles’s Laurel Canyon neighborhood between 1965 and 1975—a time when an entire generation felt abandoned by their culture and were searching for a sound that helped define them. That sound—popularized by artists such as the Mamas and the Papas, the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, the Doors, the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and more—shared the awareness of folk music and the attitude and look of rock music. Join us as we follow these legendary artists and share stories on how they ended up in Laurel Canyon and how this neighborhood of like-minded artists influenced American pop music.
