The spiritual granddaughter of Koko Taylor and southern blues show bands, Riggins has the stone-cold knack for hitting it out of the park that would make all the blues greats before her quite proud.
—Midwest Records
Kat Riggins’s vocals have been compared to those of Koko Taylor, Etta James, and Tina Turner, but while obviously influenced by those icons, Riggins has a voice and delivery all her own. Full of power, rasp, and grit, she can belt out one of her contemporary blues originals one minute, then deliver a tender, sultry standard the next. Her music is peppered with hints of R&B, soul, country, gospel, hip hop, and rock and roll, but she is undeniably a blues woman.
She travels the world with the sole mission of keeping the blues alive and thriving through her Blues Revival Movement. For Riggins, “Blues Revival” is a musical revolution that aims to introduce audiences to the sincerity behind blues music. Riggins invokes emotion through high-energy soul shakers as well as heartbreaking ballads. She recently won Best Contemporary Blues Band and Best Contemporary Blues Album from blues music magazine Making a Scene.
Riggins will be backed by a dynamic band featuring Darryl Porras on guitar; an Arizona Blues Hall of Fame nominee and Heritage Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Dr. Bob Sellani, on drums; Mahlon Hawk, an Emmy Award–winning six-string bassist and Grammy nominee for best R&B song; and Dan Miller on multiple keyboards.
