Steve Adelson, who relocated to the Phoenix area in 2019, is one of the world’s premier Chapman Stick players. He has performed in Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Italy, Canada, and Japan and has produced the Long Beach New York Jazz Fest for 16 years. He has written an instructional book and filmed a tutorial DVD for the Chapman Stick, and he remains one of the few teachers of the instrument to students all over the globe.
Guitarist Chieli Minucci has recorded and performed with many of the world’s top artists, such as Celine Dion, Lou Reed, Lionel Richie, and Jennifer Lopez, not to mention jazz artists Kirk Whalum, Marion Meadows, Mindi Abair, and many others. Although renowned in the jazz and pop worlds, Minucci is also a gifted television and film composer—he has won three Emmy Awards for his eclectic work. He is the founder and bandleader of Special EFX, which is now in its 40th year of touring.
Rachel Z is a keyboardist with a long history of award-winning jazz and rock performances. In addition to her 11 albums as bandleader, she gained international prominence touring with Peter Gabriel and has played and toured with artists including Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Al Di Meola.
Drummer Frank Bellucci can play in seemingly any genre—the least of which being hard bop, funk, and big band—as is evident from a small sampling of the diverse musicians he has performed with, which includes Bucky Pizzarelli, Steve Vai, the Spinners, and the Monkees. He is in demand as a drum teacher and mentor, and he wrote the highly acclaimed drum book Feet First.
