Praised for their authentic, soulful, and orchestral sound, the String Queens are a dynamic trio whose stimulating musical experiences inspire diverse audiences to love, hope, feel, and imagine. With a repertoire spanning the baroque era to the Jazz Age to today’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, the String Queens perform versatile programs that transport audiences through time and a multitude of genres.
Based in Washington, DC, the members of the String Queens—violinist Kendall Isadore, violist Dawn Johnson, and cellist Élise Sharp—have been featured in famed performance venues on four continents, including Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Howard Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Moscow Conservatory, and Blues Alley. They have collaborated with artists across the music industry, including Solange, Janelle Monáe, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and the late Aretha Franklin, among others. As chamber and orchestral musicians, the String Queens have performed under the batons of legendary musical directors Ray Chew, Adam Blackstone, and many more.
